Upcoming Programs

The Land Conservancy for Southern Chester County (TLC) holds educational programs year-round at our four nature preserves, and one sister-preserve.

All programs run rain or shine. In the case of severe weather, TLC will announce updates via Facebook, Twitter, and our website. All programs are non-refundable.

If you have questions or would like to register outside of our office hours (M-F from 10am – 6pm), please use email or call 484-467-9125 (cell).

Wildlife in Winter Series: Part I

Nature that Inspires: The Walk, Community Read

Come on a woodland excursion and search for iconic creatures and plants that have inspired literary works such as Braiding Sweetgrass. Find something at the Bucktoe Creek Preserve that inspires you and join The Land Conservancy for Southern Chester County at a later date for a writer’s workshop on nature writing on March 25, 2015. $5 members/ $10 non-members. Braiding Bluestem: Native Grass Walk and Natural Art, Community Read

Saturday, April 11, 2015 from 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM. Location: Bucktoe Creek Preserve (432 Sharp Rd, Avondale, PA)

Come take a morning stroll at Bucktoe Creek Preserve. Learn about the variety of native grasses present, followed by a relaxing art in nature session. Historic ruins at the Bucktoe Creek Preserve

Saturday, April 11, 2015 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM. Location: Bucktoe Creek Preserve (432 Sharp Road, Avondale, PA 19311).

Start at the Chandler Mill Bridge to learn for the history and its current issues surrounding the bridge, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Then hike to the Bucktoe Cemetery, an African American burial site of Civil War troops, for a look at ruins from the village known as Timbuktu. Join this unique tour of significant historical sites within Chester County. Led by Jane Dorchester, Architectural Historian. $5 TLC members; $10 non-members. Click here to register!

Rainforest Discovery, Community Read

Come learn about the creatures of the rainforest in Lynne Cherry’s The Great Kapok Tree! Following the reading we will create our very own rainforest where you can become the animal of your choosing. TLC will provide crafts. Click here to register!
