The "Barking" of the Geese
Yesterday, I heard the tell tale sign of "barking" coming from the sky and looked up to see the first large flock of snow geese I have seen fly overhead.
These birds breed in the north but will over-winter along the inner coasts and are heading south to stay a little bit warmer over the winter months. A great spot to catch the snow geese in full migration is Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area which is owned and maintained by the PA Game Commission.
You can check the migration numbers through this site
to find out how the migration counts look, but typically the best time to visit Middle Creek is in late winter around early to mid March.
